As expected, there hasn’t been any roster movement during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, so the MLB offseason continues to remain quiet. It’s inevitable that the hot stove movement will heat up, and the O’s may even make one or more more noteworthy moves in the near future, ideally in the pitching department.
Nevertheless, there shouldn’t be much of a shift in the Orioles’ position player group between now and Opening Day. Almost all of the 2023 team’s key players are still with the team; only two of the 14 players who played in 60 or more games this season—Adam Frazier and Aaron Hicks—aren’t anticipated to be back.
Roch Kubatko of MASN made a forecast regarding which 13 position players the Orioles will have on opening day in 2024. Though it’s difficult to argue with his projection, I might replace Ryan McKenna with Colton Cowser and believe Joey Ortiz will join the team (and one of RamĂłn UrĂas or Jorge Mateo will be out).
