CBS Chicago — The Chicago White Sox announced on Thursday that Jin Wong will take over as assistant general manager. Wong will be subordinate to Chris Getz, senior vice president and general manager.
The White Sox said that Wong played with the Kansas City Royals for 24 seasons, from 2000 to 2023. During that time, he held two positions under executive vice president and general manager J.J. Piccollo, including vice president and assistant general manager.
According to the Sox, Wong had a significant part in the development of the Royals’ 2014 and 2015 American League pennants. 2015 saw the Royals win the World Series once more.
According to the Sox, Wong will be in charge of contract negotiations, wage arbitration, payroll management, budgeting, and adherence to all Major League Baseball policies and procedures, including the collective bargaining agreement.
In 2023, Getz was elevated to the position of vice president and general manager of the White Sox. Getz was last employed by the Kansas City Royals before joining the Sox in 2016.
