It is officially definite that Javontez Spraggins will return to Tennessee for the 2024 season, as has been speculated for a few weeks. The news was made on Thursday by the talented offensive guard through his X account.
John Campbell, Cooper Mays, and Spraggins are back. Lance Heard, a former five-star prospect, has also been added to Tennessee’s roster. It is anticipated that he will play left tackle. That’s a ton of skill and experience coming back up front, which will help Nico Iamaleava, a first-year starter, a ton.
The former three-star recruit has improved and is now a genuine candidate for the NFL. He was actually selected in the first round of a mock draft held by CBS Sports last summer. In the meantime, Spraggins will help usher in the Iamaleava era in Knoxville by delaying the start of that professional career for another year.
Spraggins’ next task will be to continue his recovery from a knee injury sustained late in the season and return to full strength. We’ll see if he can prepare for spring practices, which start in the middle of March.
