The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 123-118 the next night, led by LeBron James, to recover from their defeat to the Golden State Warriors in their first game following the All-Star break on February 22.
Following the match, James couldn’t help but be in awe of Victor Wembanyama, the rookie for the Spurs and the first overall choice.
James said, “That kid is SPECIAL,” in a post on February 23 on X, the previous Twitter platform.
Wembanyama recorded a 5×5 line at the end of the game with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals. The 7-foot-4 phenomenon recorded the 15th 5×5 line in NBA history at the lowest age ever, and in the fewest minutes ever.
Following the game, James told reporters, “He doesn’t have a ceiling; he can do whatever he wants to do with his career.” From the outside looking in, it appears that he puts in the effort and enjoys the game. Of course, I don’t live with him every day. However, I’ve mentioned how unique he was for a long time, and it really is that easy.
Regarding mayhem, you just have players in our league to take into consideration whenever you go near the rim or around the perimeter in the annals of our league.
“He’s seated right up there with all the greats, if not right at the top.”
After the Spurs defeated the Lakers in December, LeBron also lauded Wembanyama, referring to him as a “special talent”. Wembanyama has expressed gratitude for James’ good remarks and has even accepted the characterization of James as a “alien.”
LeBron James: Gregg Popovich is a “Unbelievable Coach” for Victor Wembanyama
James referred to Wembanayma as “special” once more in his farewell interview. However, he also made sure to give a nod of respect to legendary head coach Gregg Popovich.
James told ESPN’s Mike Trudell, “He has an amazing coach that will make sure that he does things the right way, plays the game the right way.”
“Simply the greatest regard [for Popovich].” arguably the best coach of all time. More significantly, though, one of the greatest individuals I have ever met. And I adore Coach Pop in its entirety. And you know, it means a lot to me to be able to talk to him, share the floor with him, and have this friendship.
Balky Ankle of LeBron James “Did Okay” in the Lakers Gain victory
James’ ankle issue, which has been on the injury report the whole season, prevented him from playing in the Lakers’ defeat to the Warriors.
After his comeback, he destroyed the Spurs with 30 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and one steal.
It felt fairly good, James remarked. To be honest, I was more taken aback by how well my wind was working. However, ankle fared mediocrely. I was excited to go play and support my team’s victory. That was the most crucial thing.
