I smile broadly as my family and I head home after our first family vacation to the Dallas-Fort Worth region, a six-hour drive.
This past weekend was beyond perfect.
I was truly present when the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Detroit Lions in a thrilling victory.
It was my first Cowboys game, and I saw not just what could have been the season’s most thrilling victory, but also an amazing spectacle.
Finally admitted into the highly sought-after Cowboys Ring of Honor, two-time Super Bowl winner Jimmy Johnson did so (many years too late, in my opinion).
I’m not lying. I was crying at the induction ceremony because I was so emotional.
“I only have one thing left to say,” Jimmy stated. What about those Cowboys? I was on the verge of tears.
Dallas’ amazing victory was merely the cherry on top of an already excellent cake.
Before we focus on Washington for the NFC East championship and the second seed in the conference, there are three things I want to address.
Your initial impression of this game was probably the rapport between quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, assuming you don’t believe the story that the refs gifted the Cowboys the game.
With 13 receptions on 17 targets for 227 yards and a touchdown catch of 92 yards during a scramble drill in which he got by the defenders, Lamb helped the team defeat the Lions.
The Cowboys’ prior ties between Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin and Tony Romo and Dez Bryant have not been surpassed by the relationship between Prescott and Lamb.
This season, Prescott has targeted Lamb 168 times; 122 of those targets (72.6%) have resulted in 1,651 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Lamb can set new franchise records for receptions and yards in a single season with one more game to go.
