Mike Matthews, a wide receiver from Parkview High School, signed a national letter of intent with the Tennessee Volunteers to cap off an outstanding high school career. The 247Sports Composite Rankings for the 2024 cycle listed Matthews as the No. 20 prospect. In his four years, he caught 135 passes for 2,545 yards and 25 touchdowns.
He made numerous plays throughout the Orlando, Florida, event and was chosen as an Under Armour All-American. After that, Matthews traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Polynesian Bowl, then rejoined the team for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. One of the five Tennessee signees participating in the match is Matthews, who is drawing attention already.
“Matthews was a repeat honoree on our top-performer team and looked every bit as smooth and explosive as he did Monday. He was getting deep at will and was the favorite target among his teams quarterbacks. Matthews was solid at the Under Armour AA Game practices a few weeks ago but has really stood out this week. He has burst, long speed and hands and should compete for early playing time in college. He came in with a big rep and has lived up to it and we really like his long-term potential.” – 247Sports on Mike Matthews during the Polynesian Bowl
