MLB Rumors: Jordan Montgomery will not be acquired by the Red Sox at any cost
With Craig Breslow taking over as Chief Baseball Officer following the dismissal of Chaim Bloom, the Boston Red Sox were seen as an ambitious team heading into the offseason. Breslow and, more significantly, team chairman Tom Werner’s remarks that the organization will be going “full throttle” this summer only served to reinforce that idea.
But up until now, we haven’t really seen that. Yes, they have made some moves. They traded for outfielder Tyler O’Neill from the St. Louis Cardinals and sent Alex Verdugo to the rival Yankees, giving up his beard in the process. They were apparently considered for Yoshinobu as well.
Naturally, supporters continue to hope that the team will revert to the aggressive tactics that helped them win four World Series since ending their losing streak in 2004. However, it’s possible that the writing on the wall is conveying a completely different message.

Another recent story that suggests Boston is considering bringing back veteran James Paxton following an inconsistent and generally unsuccessful 2023 season with the team serves as additional support for that.
Perhaps the Red Sox will make a big impact and surprise a few folks.
