It’s safe to assume that guard Patrick Beverley of the Milwaukee Bucks has the Philadelphia 76ers, their road opponent, marked on his calendar for February 25.
Before the deadline, Beverley was dealt to the Bucks from Philadelphia, where he had begun the season. After Kyle Lowry completed a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, he was then signed by the 76ers.
Beverley stated, “I respect it, right,” on the Pat Bev Pod. “[Nick] Nurse went and got his guy, Kyle, and Doc [Rivers] came and got his person, me. However, I can now see Nurse’s hand. Man, when we play Philadelphia, I’m all over Kyle. direct. That’s the way things are. That’s simply the way things are, so how could you?”
With an NBA championship and six All-Star appearances under his belt, Lowry is the more accomplished player. However, he also turns 38 in March and only averaged 8.2 points and 4.0 assists in 37 games for the Miami Heat this season before being dealt to Charlotte.
Beverley, a three-time All-Defensive selection, is better renowned for his defense and can invigorate the Bucks’ second unit when he comes off the bench. In pivotal moments of the series, he will undoubtedly be called upon to defend point guards such as Lowry, and his remarks will only serve to heighten the tension when the 76ers and Bucks square off.
The next game won’t be far away for fans to anticipate.
