Trotter, Jr. said, “Yeah, I’ve talked to the Eagles,” as the gifted linebackers available in this year’s NFL draft assembled at their respective podiums to engage with groups of reporters for their scheduled fifteen minutes or so on Wednesday morning.
From Coach Nick Sirianni to Howie Roseman, everyone was in attendance. They are wonderful individuals and really exciting. They had a very pleasant energy that I felt. I genuinely like what they’re doing with their club. It would be a blessing to play for them if I were to be chosen.
On Thursday, April 25, Trotter, Jr. is ranked No. 22 in the first round; however, the Eagles will not choose him. But Trotter, Jr. may be going home with three picks on Friday’s Day 2: Nos. 50 and 53. In addition, he might earn a compensatory pick on Saturday following the conclusion of the third round and the start of the fourth round.
Trotter Jr. is ranked second among inside linebackers by NFLdraftscout.com, which ranks every player before to the Combine. Junior Colson of Michigan is ranked first. Trotter Jr. is positioned 75th.
Chris Braswell (No. 39), Dallas Turner (No. 9) of Alabama, Edgerrin Cooper (No. 56) of Texas A&M, and Payton Wilson (No. 67) of North Carolina State are the four outside linebackers he is ranked ahead of.
“As a three-down linebacker, I think I have a lot of potential,” he said. “My game is very diverse, and I have a lot of talent.” Many of the linebackers in this draft class have my highest praise. I’ve watched them play and I truly like their style of play; they’re outstanding linebackers and players.
Older Eagles supporters will recognize Trotter’s father, Jeremiah Trotter, Sr., who played for the team for eight fantastic years after joining in the third round (at choice No. 72 overall).
