In addition to missing the full season before he was scheduled to become a free agent, he was unable to compete with his colleagues on the Philadelphia Phillies in an attempt to return to the World Series and win it.

Despite the impressive results Hoskins has put up during his career, the market has been somewhat quiet for him thus far after he underwent ACL surgery and lost a whole year.
The Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays are among the organizations who have been linked to him, but nothing has resulted in a contract offer.
However, with Spring Training rapidly approaching, interest in the Hoskins has begun to boil up.
According to R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports, the Cubs will sign the former Phillies slugger this offseason.
“Since we have Bellinger bolting to Toronto, we’re slotting Hoskins into the Cubs lineup as a short-term fit at the cold corner who can provide above-average production at a lower cost than Bellinger,” he states.
That’s consistent with reports on Chicago’s plans for the upcoming winter.
Hoskins will take over at first base and in the power hitting role if they are unable to sign Cody Bellinger, who they would like to return.
If nothing unexpected happens, it appears that Philadelphia’s former fifth-round selection will be making his Major League Baseball debut for a different team.
