It was Adley Rutschman leading the way, just as O’s supporters have been accustomed to. Rutschman’s bonus total after being named to the All-MLB first team was $1,798,439, which was good for third place among all eligible players (behind only Corbin Carroll and Julio Rodriguez). The next three Birds, in order of highest totals, were Kyle Bradish, Felix Bautista, and Gunnar Henderson, who finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
Bradish finished fourth in the Cy Young race and won a $1 million bonus, bringing his total compensation to $1,666,786. In addition, he was selected for the All-MLB second team; but, as previously mentioned, he was not eligible to receive both incentives. After being included on the first team of the All-MLB, Bautista’s prize increased to $1,467,094, and Henderson came in second.

Major League Baseball and the MLBPA added language to the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), reached in 2022, to enable younger players to earn more money. The $50 million bonus pool will be distributed to qualified players between the end of each season and December 31 of that same calendar year. The money is financed by the Commissioner’s office.
According to the CBA, a player is eligible if they have less than three years of cumulative credited Major League service at the beginning of a championship season, have not qualified as a “Super Two” for salary arbitration, and were not signed as Foreign Professionals or Extended Free Agents. These players can also receive additional compensation through the Pre-Arbitration Performance Bonus Program.
