Things aren’t exactly looking better for the Chicago White Sox in 2024 after one of the most disastrous seasons in team history in 2023. Dylan Cease will probably be traded by the White Sox before Spring Training begins since they have one of the more intriguing teams in baseball.
For Chicago fans, this could be the beginning of a very bad few years, even though it doesn’t seem like things can get much worse. They are definitely in the midst of a massive rebuild if they do decide to part ways with Cease.
They are currently at an odd place. The roster is passable but not outstanding. It’s difficult to suggest that one or two players can make a difference because of the roster’s lack of talent. On the other hand, if the front office is prepared to invest money, there is skill that can be utilized.
If the White Sox make a trade, will they be a contender for the World Series? They could contend in the American League Central, but most likely not. Anything can happen to a club in the postseason. They ought to be motivated to strive for improvement by being in the Central. Rather, they’re not taking any meaningful action to improve the roster.
Chicago is in a terrible place as it stands right now. As a result, MLB.com ranked them as the No. 26 team in their first 2024 power rankings.
The Oakland A’s, Colorado Rockies, Washington Nationals, and White Sox are all in the same lower division. They are behind teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Royals.
Perhaps they could advance before the season begins with names out there to improve the club. It does not appear likely that they will advance anytime soon because of the Cease trade, which is still very much in effect.
