As SF Giants fans look ahead to the 2024 season, Natasha Welingkar highlighted five of the best scheduled giveaways at Oracle Park.
The San Francisco Giants have released their promotional schedule for the 2024 season, and some excellent ones are included. Since I am aware that many fans organize their calendars around the greatest giveaways of the year, I have chosen to highlight my top five picks. These are listed chronologically.
1. Throwback Jersey for the New York Giants
Yes, the Giants’ off-season actions this year have been rather blah, save for one Jung Hoo Lee. However, the legendary series has a lengthy history spanning over 2500 miles. The Giants will give away throwback jerseys to the first 15,000 fans on April 27 to commemorate their previous home game versus the Pirates. It’s also difficult to find New York Giants jerseys these days.
2. Willie Mays Bobblehead, Birmingham Black Barons
In celebration of Juneteenth and the Negro Leagues, the Giants will play this summer at Birmingham’s storied Rickwood Field. On May 31, the team’s African American Heritage Day game versus the New York Yankees, the team is giving away Willie Mays Birmingham Black Barons Bobbleheads to the first 20,000 fans that can’t make it to such a historic reenactment.
3. The Mickey Mouse Headgear
Nothing compares to a good joke between pals. But amid fierce competitors? Better still. The 2020 World Series won by the Dodgers after a shortened season has been dubbed a “Mickey Mouse” triumph by MLB fans for the past few years. It seems that the word had its start because Disney World hosted the 2020 NBA season. Since then, sports enthusiasts all over the world have started to use it to minimize the significance of many titles. The first 15,000 fans will receive a Mickey Mouse Ears Hat on Disneyland Day on June 30, when the Mariners play. Just a coincidence? Perhaps…
4. The Mt. Core Four Statue featuring Romo, Affeldt, Casilla, and Lopez
The Giants announced earlier this week that on July 13th against the Minnesota Twins, the “Core Four,” or the team’s four workhorse relievers from 2010 to 2014—the era that produced championships—would be enshrined into the team’s Wall of Fame. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Mt. Core Four Statue representing the quartet from The Giants in recognition of this special occasion.
5. Bobblehead Jung Hoo Lee
Jung Hoo Lee, the most captivating off-season acquisition for the Giants, has always desired to be a Major League Baseball player. With his ambition now realized, the crew is keen to celebrate his achievement by giving him a bobblehead, which might be his first of many. The first 20,000 spectators on July 28th versus the Rockies will receive one.
Along with the bobblehead debuts of young core players like Camilo Doval and Patrick Bailey, the SF Giants hope to commemorate additional historical milestones with special giveaways throughout the season.
