The Braves look pretty much the same two months after losing to the Phillies for the second consecutive year and being outscored 20-8 in four postseason games.
With the addition of Ray Kerr and Aaron Bummer to the bullpen, general manager Alex Anthopoulos has strengthened the team’s bullpen. Jarred Kelenic, a once-coveted prospect who fell short of expectations with the Mariners, was acquired in a five-player transaction. In addition, he bid farewell to Kyle Wright, Michael Soroka, and Eddie Rosario.
But after winning more than 100 games for the second straight season, the club essentially reached a breaking point. It’s still almost two months until spring training. Since the White Sox haven’t traded Dylan Cease yet, Anthopoulos has time to make a big trade for a starting pitcher. In an attempt to acquire Aaron Nola, Anthopoulos held trade negotiations with Tampa Bay for Tyler Glasnow, who was eventually acquired by the Dodgers. He is, however, content with the roster as it stands right now and mostly attributes playoff exits to the unpredictable nature of the postseason.
He declared, “I have no doubts about us in terms of resilience, makeup, and character. “Look, I understand that when you lose, people point to things and look for explanations. It’s reasonable. It’s a component of sports. “Why were you not the World Series champion?” You possessed incredible talent.
Apart from required appearances such as following trades, signings, and league meetings, Anthopoulos usually stays away from recorded interviews throughout the middle of winter. However, he made an exception this week, talking with The Athletic about a range of subjects, including as his roster choices and thoughts on the postseason.
