Goalie Brandon Bussi has been assigned to Providence by the Boston Bruins, according to a statement made by general manager Don Sweeney today, January 16.
The 25-year-old Bussi has made 20 appearances for Providence this season, going 10-6-3 overall with a 2.94 goals against average and a.901 save percentage. With an overall record of 35-13-7, the 6-foot-4, 218-pound goalie has played in 57 AHL games with Providence in his career. In 2022, Boston signed the native of Sound Beach, New York as a free agent.
Pietrangelo put an end to a two-on-one rush with Mark Stone.
Pietrangelo praised Stone’s pass, saying it was excellent. If you watch the replay, you won’t have much space to weave that through there. He is paid what he is because of this. Play that is unbelievable. I could easily tap that in. open-ended net.
Vegas (24-13-5), which has won two of three, have won thanks to goals and assists from Jack Eichel and 32 saves from Logan Thompson.
“We’ve won against a very, very talented hockey team,” Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy remarked. However, I loved how we wanted to win. We tore it up. There is hockey played like in the playoffs, but we didn’t give up. They are deserving of great praise.
With three straight losses, all after regulation (0-0-3), Boston (24-8-9) received a goal from Matt Grzelcyk and 23 saves from Jeremy Swayman.
Coach Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins commented, “[Swayman] was terrific again.” “Unfortunately, in order for us to draw even at this stage, our goalie needs to make a number of outstanding saves. All we need to do at this point is continue teaching our [defensive]-zone coverage. To go on the right track, keep teaching our tracking, being tough, and holding players accountable.
On a power play at 7:01 of the third period, Eichel gave Vegas a 1-0 lead. A Jonathan Marchessault shot from the left circle beat Swayman on the five-hole putt that Eichel deflected. The Golden Knights’ goal drought of 122:41 was broken.
Eichel remarked, “We stayed pretty even-keeled tonight.” Even in the early going, we failed to capitalize. On the power play, we had a few opportunities. Even though we didn’t capitalize, we persisted and managed to obtain one after all.
