Bill Morgan, a 97-year-old resident of Peabody, Massachusetts, has seen his share of hockey. Only a few years separate him from the actual Boston Bruins team.
“I like the excitement, I like the game itself, the way it’s played, and I like the Boston Garden,” Morgan stated.
The supporters are just as important to the Bruins as the players are as they commemorate the team’s centennial season. There is a reputation among Bruins supporters that includes being devoted, having high standards, and practically being black and gold. Ask Milan Lucic, the left winger for the Bruins right now:
“[The fans] expect hard effort, blood, sweat, and tears,” says Lucic. “To me it’s what Boston sports fans are all about.”
There is a generational bond with hockey and the Boston squad. From the wide-eyed children entering TD Garden for the first time to the gallery gods supporting the Big Bad Bruins at the historic Boston Garden.
The group behind the scenes has possibly the largest following. Keith Robinson may be the only person in the Bruins’ equipment manager’s office who is familiar with the peculiarities of your favorite players. The seeds were sown when Keith and his buddies were young supporters of the hometown team, like so many others who become members of this organization. They share this characteristic with both young and veteran Bruins supporters.
