The Bruins’ four-game road trip got off to a terrible start on Monday at Ball Arena when they lost one of their key players in the second period against the Avalanche.
Currently enjoying his finest season, Brandon Carlo left Monday’s game in the second period due to an injury. Later, the Bruins declared that Carlo wouldn’t be returning and that the injury was to his upper body.
It wasn’t immediately apparent when Carlo got hurt.
Derek Forbort is already absent for the Bruins. Boston will be without two of its greatest penalty killers and defensive-minded blueliners if Carlo joins him on the sidelines. Additionally, rookie Mason Lohrei missed his second straight game after taking a puck to the mouth.
Prior to the injury, Carlo had played 1:50 and contributed an assist. He averaged 20:29 on the ice and finished with two goals and seven assists.
