As part of this year’s Winter Tour, Phillies players, staff, and alumni will be returning to the city, starting on the MLK Day of Service, to take part in a number of community and charitable events.
The Phillies manager Rob Thomson, pitcher Aaron Nola, outfielder Brandon Marsh, and rookie pitcher Orion Kerkering are all expected to play. Among the other Phillies front office officials making special appearances are pitcher Dickie Noles, the 1980 World Series champion, Phillie Phanatic, and 1993 National League champions Mickey Morandini and Milt Thomps

January 15, Monday: MLK Day of Service Activities
Phillies Giving Back at Strawberry Mansion Learning Center * Strawberry Mansion Learning Center, 2946 W Dauphin Street, Philadelphia, PA; 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Volunteers from the Strawberry Mansion Learning site will work alongside Rob and Michele Thomson and Phillies front office staff to help with a variety of duties around the site, such as painting interior and outdoor spaces and preparing gardens, among other things. The Phillies’ collaboration with the learning center under the MLB Legacy Project is being carried out through this event. For kids in grades 5 through 12, the Strawberry Mansion Learning Center offers free summer and after-school programs. It is a community safe haven for youngsters.
The Phillies will hold a clinic for RBI baseball players from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A clinic for many RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) youth baseball teams will be hosted by Thomson, Morandini, Thompson, Noles, and the team’s Youth Baseball & Softball Development Staff.
January 16, a Tuesday
The Phillies will partner with St. Francis Inn Ministries to provide meals from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Francis Inn, located at 2441 Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. East Hagert Street is the next entrance.
Alongside Rob and Michele Thomson, Marsh will assist in serving meals at St. Francis Inn, where volunteers have been providing sit-down meals to Philadelphia’s most impoverished individuals and families since 1979.
January 17, Wednesday
At the Philadelphia Sports Writers Awards Banquet on May 5, 5:00 p.m., at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 2349 Marlton Pike West, Cherry Hill, NJ, Aaron Nola will be honored.
The 119th Annual Awards Banquet of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association is scheduled to take place. The PSWA Humanitarian Award for 2023 will go to Aaron Nola. Thomson is scheduled to speak at the dinner as well. The PSWA honors outstanding coaches, athletes, and teams from Philadelphia’s high schools, colleges, and professional leagues for their remarkable contributions to the community and on the field each year. Scholarships for local high school students aspiring to work in radio and media are funded by the Awards Dinner’s proceeds. Go here for details on tickets.

Players to Travel to Lehigh Valley for Winter Caravan with the Phillies IronPigs Charities is the host.

The Lehigh Valley will soon welcome the Phillies! A question-and-answer period with Thomson, Marsh, and Kerkering, dinner, the opportunity to bid on autographed sports memorabilia, and more will all be included in this fan event that supports IronPigs Charities. Go here for details on tickets.

Phillies Manager and Players to Participate in Xfinity-Presented Phanatic About Reading Assembly * Clara Barton Elementary School, 4600 Rosehill Street, Philadelphia, PA; 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
The Phillies will pay a special visit to one of the top-performing schools in the Phanatic About Reading initiative, presented by Xfinity! An interactive event featuring the Phanatic, in collaboration with Thomson, Marsh, and Kerkering, will be presented to teachers and students. The Phanatic will read or act out passages from his book, The Phillie Phanatic’s Hero. In order to enhance literacy, this free, incentive-based program encourages Pre-K through 8th graders to read or be read to for at least 15 minutes each day. The program has around 146,000 pupils as participants.
