The Bayou Bengals receive a pledge from their top Early Signing Period target, puts pen to paper.
During the Early Signing Period, the LSU football staff has successfully placed their last domino. Texas offensive lineman Coen Echols, ranked among the top 150 prospects, has committed to and signed with Brian Kelly’s team.
The interior offensive lineman ranked sixth in America, among other options, choose LSU over Auburn and Missouri.
During the final weekend before the Dead Period began on Monday, Kelly and the Tigers arranged for Echols to make an official visit to Baton Rouge.
Following a fruitful trip to Louisiana, the highly sought-after offensive lineman has now made his commitment to the Bayou Bengals public.
Echols has had a wild ride with its recruitment process. The former Texas A&M pledge has received offers from a number of the nation’s best universities, with Auburn thought to be the front-runner in the final stretch. However, LSU gained the upper hand after visiting Death Valley.
Echols, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 290 pounds, officially confirmed his decision to enroll in LSU’s 2024 recruiting class on Friday, as predicted by LSU Country.
Brad Davis’s position group has signed five offensive linemen this cycle, and Echols is the icing on the cake. The 2024 class is loaded with talent.
