The New York Yankees still have time to make another significant acquisition.
One of the baseball clubs with the most activity has been New York. The Yankees appear to be the subject of a new rumor every week, and it appears that they are making every effort to strengthen the team.
The Yankees have the financial means to invest in every starting pitcher available, including the big-name free agents and those who could be moved. Every eligible pitcher has been mentioned as a fit for New York, from Dylan Cease to Jordan Montgomery.
Cease appears to be one of New York’s primary targets at this time. Although it’s uncertain if the Yankees and the Chicago White Sox may come to an agreement, it sounds like they want to do it “soon,” as reported by Randy Miller of NJ.com.
Will Spencer Jones and top pitching prospect Chase Hampton be the main components of a deal that Brian Cashman makes for Cease to keep him away from the Orioles, who would then be the overwhelming favorites to win the AL East twice in a row? Expect the Yankees to launch a quick attack,” Miller declared.
“They would gladly accept (Blake Snell) as long as it meant Cease. The holdup is the cost. Will Cashman spend the money or pursue the opportunity to get one of them before they both go elsewhere?”
The White Sox appear to be getting close to a complete rebuild as Cease has been the subject of trade speculation the entire winter. The White Sox will want a huge sum for the 28-year-old, who has a high trade value. New York should bear the full expense to secure the celebrity because he is worth it.
To be serious contenders in the World Series, New York needs one more pitcher, and Cease might be that person.
