A young boy wearing a McAvoy jersey is shown receiving a puck from Boston Bruins blueliner Charlie McAvoy over the glass in a video that New England Sports Network (NESN) uploaded on X the other night.
The lad was leading a sizable contingent of young fans who were all eager to meet the 26-year-old celebrity at last night’s Bruins home game against the Seattle Kraken, which was the fifth in a seven-game homestand.
McAvoy has previously engaged in similar behavior.
He was seen tossing a puck over the boards to a fan in a video that appeared to be from the Florida Panthers’ 3-2 overtime victory the night before, which was uploaded to the NHL’s Facebook page on October 31, 2023.
The enthusiast had a purple Boston Bruins jersey on and was carrying a placard that read, “I Fought For My Mom,” with the words “World’s Biggest Bruins Fan” underneath it. After receiving the puck, the fan started crying.
Not a good night for their hometown hockey team, despite NESN calling the boy’s moment with them “cute” last night.
The Bruins lost 4-1, giving up a goal in each of the first two periods and two in the third, which probably contributed to the negative and acrimonious fan reactions to the video. In the opening frame, the Bruins managed just one goal.
A fan commented on the X post, saying, “Put it in the net instead.”
throughout the end, McAvoy had two shots on goal and an assist throughout the match.
David Pastrnak, a right-winger, took seven shots in the first period and scored the only goal for the Bruins.
