Congratulations: UConn Huskies Sweep BIG EAST Conference Basketball Awards

 

STORRS, CT – The University of Connecticut Huskies concluded the 2024-2025 BIG EAST Conference basketball season by sweeping prestigious awards, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in college basketball. Both the men’s and women’s teams garnered significant recognition, reflecting their dominance throughout the season.

 

On the men’s side, the Huskies capped off a historic year, claiming both the BIG EAST Tournament title and a coveted spot as the top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Head Coach Dan Hurley was named BIG EAST Coach of the Year, following a season that saw his team post an impressive 27-4 record. The Huskies were led by standout sophomore guard Jordan Hawkins, who was named BIG EAST Player of the Year after averaging 18.4 points per game. Hawkins’ exceptional shooting and leadership were key to the Huskies’ success this season, propelling them to national prominence.

 

On the women’s side, the UConn Huskies continued their legacy of excellence under Head Coach Geno Auriemma, who was recognized as the BIG EAST Women’s Coach of the Year. The Huskies finished the regular season with a 30-1 record, showcasing their unmatched depth and skill. Senior forward Aaliyah Edwards, who had a dominant year both offensively and defensively, was awarded BIG EAST Player of the Year honors. Edwards, who averaged a double-double with 16.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, was instrumental in leading her team to an undefeated conference record.

 

The Huskies’ men’s and women’s basketball programs have become synonymous with success, consistently maintaining their place among the top teams in the country. Their dual sweep of the BIG EAST Conference awards serves as a testament to the talent, dedication, and hard work of both the athletes and coaching staffs.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…
