This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have seen a considerable amount of turnover on the offensive side of the ball, including two starting offensive linemen: Pro Bowler Tyler Biadasz and All-Pro Tyron Smith, as well as lead back Tony Pollard.
However, one position has stayed relatively consistent: wide receiver, where the Cowboys return four of their top five by snap count from 2023. Former WR3 Michael Gallup, who had a pair of great 1,107 and 843 receiving yards seasons in 2019 and 2020, has been unable to replicate that productivity in the next three years, averaging fewer than 500 receiving yards in each season thereafter.
Despite signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract before the start of the 2022 season, the former Colorado State player has been able to repeat his early career success following a ruptured ACL suffered in Week 17 of the 2021 season.
After deciding to cut their losses and part ways with Gallup in March, with no immediate natural replacement (except for Southeast Missouri State’s selection in the sixth round of this past draft), it appeared that the Cowboys would have to find their new starting wideout from within the organisation.

Dallas’ new #3 receiver has essentially been a head-to-head between former third-round pick Jalen Tolbert and 2019 undrafted free agent and Pro Bowl return specialist KaVontae Turpin.
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic (via ProFootballRumors), one appears to have an advantage over the other in terms of being the likely starter for the upcoming season.
