NEWS UPDATE: Dallas Cowboys Appoint Deion Sanders as New Head Coach

Arlington, TX – April 24, 2025

Just hours after the dismissal of Brian Schottenheimer, the Dallas Cowboys have made a blockbuster move by appointing NFL legend Deion Sanders as their new head coach. The official announcement came from team owner Jerry Jones this afternoon during an emergency press conference held at AT&T Stadium.

Coach Prime is coming home,” Jones declared. “There’s no one else in the world who can lead this team with the passion, presence, and purpose that Deion Sanders brings. We are turning the page and starting a bold new chapter in Cowboys history.”

Sanders, who made a name for himself as a dynamic player with the Cowboys in the 1990s, now returns to the franchise in a much different role. After recent stints coaching at Jackson State and most recently the University of Colorado, Sanders has been one of the most talked-about figures in football—both for his motivational style and ability to build culture.

In accepting the position, Sanders didn’t hold back. “This ain’t just a job. This is destiny,” he told reporters. “The Cowboys deserve greatness, and I’m here to bring it. I’ve worn this star with pride before, and I’ll wear it again—this time with a whistle and a vision.”

Sanders’ coaching career, while still young, has already made headlines for transforming underdog programs into nationally watched stories. At Colorado, he brought energy, attention, and top-tier recruits to a team that had long struggled. Though results on the field were mixed, his leadership and charisma were undeniable.

The decision to hire Sanders comes on the heels of a disappointing 7-10 season that saw the Cowboys miss the playoffs and ultimately led to the firing of Schottenheimer after only one year. Many insiders say the Cowboys were looking for more than just an X’s and O’s coach—they wanted a culture shifter.

“Deion is a game-changer,” said Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay. “We didn’t just hire a coach—we brought in a movement.”

The reaction across the league has been immediate and intense. Players have taken to social media to express excitement, including star linebacker Micah Parsons, who tweeted, “IT’S PRIME TIME IN DALLAS!!! Let’s go to work!” Quarterback Dak Prescott posted a message of unity: “Ready to grind with Coach Prime. Let’s build something special.”

Though Sanders has no NFL head coaching experience, he brings a mindset rooted in discipline, self-belief, and relentless energy. Known for his “I believe” mantra and his ability to relate to young players, Sanders is expected to overhaul the team’s culture from Day 1.

No specific details of his contract have been released, but sources indicate it’s a multi-year deal with significant performance incentives.

As the Cowboys look ahead to training camp, one thing is clear: this is not business as usual. With Deion Sanders now at the helm, the franchise is betting big on a new kind of leadership—one built on swagger, faith, and a burning desire to win.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.
